For the third time, Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre/Northwest/Northwest (HDDT/NW) is inspired by the inner southeast old Taylor Electric building site. To celebrate six years of creating performance art in Portland, the company’s annual fundraiser on August 4, 2016 will include the No Stopping performance, an advanced reception, and a Meet-and-Mingle with the choreographer and artists after the show.
No Stopping is a new site-specific work choreographed by Heidi Duckler and performed by four Portland dancers in an old-meets-new parking lot at 240 SE Clay in the heart of Portland’s Goat Blocks. A rust-covered car sets the stage as the shards of graffiti covered ibeams and the magnificent city skyline serve as the jaw-dropping backdrop. When asked Why create a third piece in this space? Duckler replied- “No Stopping is just that – there is no stopping when a space keeps speaking to you, and as an artist I am interested in transformation and survival.”
