Custom House, Portland, OR
Very sensitive and amazing use of the space and your dancer’s strengths! I was truly moved by your vision.

Something to Declare contributed to Portland’s vibrant creative energy by “importing” seven fearless dancers from Seattle, Eugene, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Moving between the grand interior stairwell and courtyard of the historic Custom House in downtown Portland, the interdisciplinary dance performance distilled the site’s rich stories of exchange, commerce, and transition into daring physical movement. Paired with striking lighting design by Jennifer Lin and live musical accompaniment by composer N.F. Chase, the event awakened the renowned site’s long-standing architectural, cultural, and historical memory.
