Thank you to everyone who came to see Urban/Forest. The series was a resounding success!
“This performance is dedicated to those we hold / in our arms, our hearts, our thoughts; / near or far, among us or departed; / two-legged, four-legged, many-legged, no-legged; / cloaked in skin, feather, furs, leaves, needles, bark; / those who we know well and those who we do not yet know; / this includes you.”
With the series Urban/Forest, HDDT/NW was able to honor the life cycle of grief and recovery. FOREST celebrated the vibrancy and wildness of Hoyt Arboretum’s woods, exploring the fleeting and whimsical relationship animals and humans can have with the tress. URBAN framed those relationships in terms of darkness and renewal in the setting of a lumberyard, demonstrating the continuation of life through the reuse, reverence for, and re-habitation of forgotten or unused spaces.
