Movement Workshops with Tony Carnell

January 9, 2026 @ 5:00 pm - January 30, 2026 @ 8:00 pm

Let’s dive into the new year with movement, confidence, and pure energy. This series fuses jazz and industry-style choreography—pushing dancers to explore artistry while strengthening their bodies and stage presence. We’ll dive into the performance side of dance—learning how to connect with the audience/camera, build improvisation skills, and develop self-confidence both on and off the floor. You’ll also work on self-motivation and body awareness through technique, conditioning, and guided freestyle.

This class is built for teens (12+) and adults, at an intermediate level, but all dancers—no matter your background or experience—are encouraged to join. Every session will leave you sweating, inspired, and more in tune with your power.

This workshop is part of a community-based project, A Garden of Doors, to bring accessible arts programming to Las Adelitas residents and the community, nurturing local talent and celebrating diverse stories. Creative material from previous workshops will inspire the choreography for a final performance on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

KBOO’s Carmelle Pierre-Louis speaks with dance artist and instructor Tony Carnell as they talk about their experience as a dancer, and the joy of challenging people who may not see themselves as dancers to move as one. Listen to the full radio interview here.

No experience necessary. Comfortable clothing recommended. Light refreshments provided!
