Community Transitional School

Led by Tony Carnell and Ramon Rodriguez, this class was designed to introduce the youth to dance choreography and performance. Through movement, this program gives a voice to the children who have not had the chance to be part of something bigger. Teaching artists provide fun activities throughout the work as it progresses, and concludes with a public final performance.

The Community Transitional School (CTS) takes pride in enrolling students who have experienced being “hidden homeless” with their transient families in Multnomah County. Heidi Duckler Dance/Northwest acknowledged this as opportunity to bring a new aspect of performance art to their lives.

HDD/NW is deeply committed to the transformative power of artistic expression and believes in its capacity to foster joy and justice through multidisciplinary collaboration between artists and communities throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Bringing Performance Art to the Community

At Heidi Duckler Dance Northwest, we believe that bringing performance art to schools gives students a chance to find a new creative hobby and opens the doors to find new opportunities. Our instructors create an environment where everyone can express themselves through movement without worrying about making mistakes.
