HDD/Northwest performed at the Portland Mercado for part two of SIN MAÍZ NO HAY PAÍS. Accompanied by musical trio Oleada, HDD/NW dancers used the various kitchen, outdoor, and market spaces to perform a site-specific work. The show highlighted the rich cultural history and vibrant beauty of the community that resides in the area.
Founder and Artistic Director Heidi Duckler introduced new and returning guests to her practice, emphasizing fostering engagement and investment in Portland’s creative and diverse communities. HDD/NW takes pride in our roots, locally and globally, which comprise an incredible tapestry of artists, activists, educators, entrepreneurs, and community members.
