Inspired by Las Adelitas During Women’s History Month
Mother/Other showcased dynamic and longtime HDD artists, Barbara Lima, Tony Carnell, Sasha Rivero, and Joseph Stevens. The film was inspired and created with what was available and experienced on-site. It aimed to explore how we – the artists and community – nurture, care and seek mothers in a myriad of ways. This event and performance happened while Heidi Duckler Dance was in residence at the new affordable housing complex of Las Adelitas in North Portland, during Women’s History Month in March 2024.
Site-Specific Dance in the Pacific Northwest
HDD/NW redefines relationships between artists and audiences by presenting bold choreography in extraordinary places, and through collaborations with artists and communities of the Pacific Northwest, cultivates public engagement to create meaningful, multidisciplinary performances with exceptional artistic standards.
